my secret is that i have an unpaid speeding ticket in the state of kentucky. it was years ago. i couldn't figure out how to pay it. i have googled many times if i could go to jail over it. i didn't tell anyone about it out of shame because i had so many other tickets on my record at the time that i could have lost my license if my home state found out about the kentucky ticket but weirdly they have no record of it. no one knows about it but me. me and a government computer software system somewhere. i'm a better driver now and i haven't had a ticket in 3 years :) yet i am haunted
my secret is that i love bingo. i have been yearning to play it but only old people congregate to play it and i am too shy to go play it alone and i find my love of bingo to be deeply shameful thus i never ask my friends to go with me.
I must bartend that evening but, if you/y’all are in town the day before or after, I’m behind the stick at Hearth in the East Village every night and will happily enable you 💖
unfortunately bc of the genuinely secretive nature of the essays it has to be a private one night only event .. but I hope to do more events like this and will certainly come home sooner than later <3
